A graduate of UCLA, Steve Snyder lives in Seal Beach, California. In 2009, he retired from Vision Service Plan (VSP) after a 36 year career working in sales and sales management. He then began his quest to learn more about the World War II experiences of his father, pilot Howard Snyder, and the crew of the B-17 Susan Ruth. It became his passion, and after 4 ½ years of dedicated research, resulted in his book, SHOT DOWN: The true story of pilot Howard Snyder and the crew of the B-17 Susan Ruth, which has received 25 book awards.
Steve is on the board of directors and past president of the 306th Bomb Group Historical Association and on the board of directors of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He keeps very busy making PowerPoint presentations to all types of organizations and attending air shows around the country signing copies of his book.
Based on my book, my PowerPoint presentation includes about 70 images (no text). It begins with how I came to write the book and then I talk about World War II pilot training, the B-7 Flying Fortress, what is was like to fly combat missions, my dad's plane being shot down, his being hidden by the Belgian Underground and then fighting with the French Resistance, a little bit about Belgium, and close with a tribute to World War II veterans.
Run time: 45 minutes
Microphone, Podium (optional), Projector Screen, Table & Chair (to sign and sell copies of my book)
